I spent many childhood holidays in Lefkada and now enjoy the beaches with my daughter Anna in the summer for relaxing and in the winter for walking our dog Jack.
Here are my favourite 3 beaches on Lefkada island and they are all Blue Flag beaches!
Kastro is an easy 1 km walk from Lefkada town near the Agia Mavra Castle. During summer after a long day of working around 19:00 we take the bicycles and go here for a swim. Its lovely and quiet at that time. It is quite unspoilt as there are no beach bars or sunbeds on the beach but it is an ideal beach for children.
Most of my childhood holiday memories are from Kastro as we would visit everyday with my parents and grandmother. In those days there was a big cafe and disco, long since closed and people use the old buildings for photoshoots these days!
I recommend Levkosh Apartments for city lovers who want to be near the beach
Kathisma is a beautiful beach on the west coast of the island of Lefkas. It is one of the most beautiful beaches of Lefkada and as well as the stunning aquamarine sea it has plenty of facilities. Here you can chill at one of the cool beach bars and get cocktails served at your sunbed or head to the quiet left side where you can enjoy lazy days with your book and just the sound of the waves! It is approx 20 minutes drive from Lefkas Town or you can take the local bus.
I recommend Sea to Sky Villa which is next to both Kathisma and Agios Nikitas.
3. AGIOS IOANNIS
Close to Lefkas Town is the beach of Agios Ioannis, a long beach that stretches from the church in the rocks around to the old windmills. In the summer there are two beach bars with relaxed vibes and several beach side cafes popular with the locals. In the winter Agios Ioannis is the perfect place to go for walks, Anna and I like to take our dog there in the afternoons so he can run in the sand.
I recommend Agios Ioannis Villas for beach side bliss!
Don't wait! Grab your beach bag and visit Lefkada!
